Rake Angle Variation in Diamond Turning

Abstract

The PEC has a long history studying cutting mechanics in single-point diamond turning (SPDT). The latest installment in this ongoing investigation is looking
at the effect of rake angle on the forces in SPDT. In certain scenarios, the change in rake angle can be significant and have a profound effect on the finished
part. One of these scenarios is examined here as is the measurement of cutting forces and the results of these measurements.
